Fixer Upper: Small Farm Perks!

We’ve had a busy summer of house chaos! We sold our old house in the spring, put most of our stuff in storage and moved into a rental. Not wanting to rush our next purchase or settle since we had a pretty specific checklist, we decided we would take our time.

Packing up the house with the dogs

By early fall, we found our new home! I actually said “no” the first two times we saw it – it definitely lacks some curb appeal. But Mr. Engineer T kept bringing it back up because of the amazing “bones” of the house and even though it was built in 1969, it only had two owners, both who kept the house and property pristine over the years (even if outdated).

It is a little unfair to call it a “fixer upper” as the house is in great shape. We just want to make it more our style.

Who knew orange brick was an option?

There’s just under six acres to spread out on – which is exactly what we wanted. Land! Hard to find for a reasonable price in this neck of the woods. The house is 5 bedrooms/3 baths (and a urinal…) and has a full basement. It is a little over 3500 sqft finished space and 500 sqft unfinished storage.

Overall, we are thrilled to call this little piece of property ours! We have some big renovation plans for the place (including removing all this wood paneling). I will be sure to post updates on Instagram and here!

We are using the hashtag #smallfarmperks (get it? Perks as in Perkins.. haha. Cue audience laughter…)
